Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from Phoenix Meadows.
Scunthorpe town centre can be accessed in just 10 minutes, including the train station which is a similar distance away. When considering traffic and the time it can take to park, cycling may therefore be quicker than a journey by car for many local trips!
National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 169 runs just 800m to the west of Phoenix Meadows, taking just a couple of minutes to access by bike. NCN 169, known as the Scunthorpe Ridgeway, is a six-mile route running from Burringham Road in the south to Lodge Lane in the north. The route connects residential areas with the colleges, hospital, park, and Normanby Enterprise Park, making it an ideal option for those wanting to get around on two wheels.
If you are looking for something a little more leisurely, Normanby Hall Country Park can be reached in around a 15-minute cycle and offers visitors the chance to explore the extensive grounds and gardens of Normanby Hall. Woodland, playgrounds, bike trails and even a Victorian walled garden means there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
